It's the most wonderful con of the year!
My fifth year at ConBravo was an awesome experience. Nowhere else in the world do I feel more "at home" then at this convention. So many of my friends and even people I just happen to know a little bit always show up at this convention, and the programming centered around nostalgia like video games, cartoons, TV shows, comics and general geekdom is always amazing.
I also got to do some more interviews with some of the special guests, including gaming music producer Grant Kirkhope (Goldeneye 007, Banjo Kazooie), YouTube nerd personality Andre Meadows (Black Nerd Comedy), and local web comic artist Andrew Gregoire (I Am Arg). Leave it to ConBravo to always bring in the most awesome of special guests!
Plus there was all kinds of hanging out with friends of mine that I've made over the years through gaming, the cosplay community and the convention circuit in SW Ontario. It was such a great time, and the best part was that I got it all on my camera!
But now that the con is over, it's time to knuckle down and start putting together some videos! I filled up my camera (no literally I was out of hard drive space by the end of the weekend) and now I'm going to get to work on chopping up interviews, shows, vlogs, retrospectives and all kinds of random stuff from the con and releasing it on my YouTube channel!
I'll do my best to keep the Fandom Videos page updated with each video I upload, so be sure to check back often over the next few weeks!
Visited a con yesterday!
My first time at Atomic Lollipop, held at the Ontario Science Center in Toronto. Three days of colourful cosplay events, crafting activities, games, and a variety of shows like circus performances, burlesque shows, raves and more.
That being said, maybe it's my age or maybe just the kind of con goer I am, but APOP didn't really do it for me. Oh I had fun with my friends like I always do, and getting to hang out with them in the science center (which was RAD by the way) was worth the price of admission, but the atmosphere just didn't sit well with me. Far too much bad behavior even for a convention setting and not nearly enough programming that I was specifically interested in.
Plus, hey, I did some cosplay for once.
That was kind of neat. I didn't think it was really anything special but I had a lot of encouragement from my friends. That was nice of them.
ConBravo! awaits next weekend! THAT... I'm looking forward to, and will likely have a much better time at.
I'm heading to some cons here in SW Ontario in the next two weeks!
First up, this Saturday I'll be visiting my first Atomic Lollipop at the Toronto Science Center. Mai Sheri has been there a few years before and she finally convinced me to go. From what I've been told it's a very colorful three days of dances, raves, inflatable castles and obstacle courses, and all kinds of crafty activities. Plus apparently Prozzak will be playing. (Yeah, bet you didn't think they were still around!) It should be fun (though I'm probably going to feel so OLD!)
Here's a video I editing for Mai Sheri of her trip to APOP in 2013! Atomic Lollipop 2013
And the weekend after will be ConBravo! out in Hamilton. This is one of my favorite cons of the year and I'm excited to get back and enjoy the annual festival of everything geek, as well as do some video work for the con!
Check out my retrospective video for a look at last year's ConBravo! (there's more on my Fandom Videos page) ConBravo! 2014 - Retrospective
If you see me at the cons, feel free to say hi! I'll likely be secluded away editing videos for the next little forever once they've both wrapped up! Like a video ninja do! ^_^
So... MAJOR overhaul to the site. I decided to really knuckle down and polish this baby up. So now, EVERYTHING I've worked on over the last eight years is listed here. Whether it's convention videos, visual effects shorts, vlogs, audio podcasts, or gaming videos. It's ALL here. I spent a few days compiling a few HUGE lists. It was exhausting.
I'm also really digging the far more simplistic design layout I've decided to go with. It's clean and sleek. It has a sort of polished black glass look to it.
I've still got a few cosmetic things to add to add here or there but I'm hoping this serves as a bit of a better portal to all of my work and various online goings on.
As for this little blurb, this will probably amount to little more than a simple blog post from now on.
